WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- A man from Maryland is the winner of the top prize of $1 million from the 'Money Money Money scratch ticket', DC Lottery officials confirm.
Lounes Issaad of Gaithersburg purchased the ticket at the Sunrise Newsstand in the Chevy Chase Pavilion on Wisconsin Avenue, N.W. He is an Algerian native who has been working as a pizza delivery worker in the area for almost seven years. He said he stopped in his favorite store to buy a ticket in hopes of winning some extra cash for his girlfriend for Valentine's Day. Now, he hopes to visit his native country with some of the money he has won.
Buddy Roogow executive director of the DC Lottery said, "These are the winning stories we love to hear."
Issaad is the first DC Lottery Millionaire of 2014, following six millionaires awarded in 2013. Veronica Roberts of DC also won $211,425 on Valentine's Day, lottery officials said.
