DISTRICT HEIGHTS, Md. (WUSA9) -- Prince George's County police say a 62-year-old grandmother who suffers from dementia was located by a K9 team early Friday morning.

Officials say a call came in at 2:30 a.m. Friday from a woman who couldn't find her 62-year-old grandmother who suffers from dementia and other medical conditions. The grandmother had wandered away from their home on Marbury Court in District Heights sometime after midnight, according to police.

Prince George's County police officers began a search and requested Corporal Don Smith and bloodhound K9 Tayaut to help.

Tayaut sniffed the woman's pillowcase and found the woman in the woods. She was on the ground and tangled in some thorn bushes, unable to get up on her own.

A police officer carried her out of the woods at 4:20 a.m. and she was then taken to a hospital.
