Riverdale Park, Md. -- A Hyattsville man was arrested Wednesday for attacking a man and stealing his briefcase and laptop in Riverdale Park last year.
Riverdale Park Police Department obtained an arrest warrant for robbery for Markel Dinkins of Hyattsville on January 8, 2014.
Dinkins got out of a 2005 Silver Chevy Impala on December 12, 2013 and attacked a man from behind in the area of Taylor Road an Tuckerman Street in Riverdale Park, Maryland, according to authorities.
He took the victim's briefcase and laptop and then ran away, Prince George's County Sheriff's Office said. According to the warrant the same vehicle was stopped on December 21, 2013 and one of the people inside was Dinkins.
After completing the investigation, the Warrant/Fugitive Division were able to determine that Dinkins was in Washington, DC.
Dinkins was arrested in the 2300 block of Ainger Place in Washington DC with help from the Metropolitan Police Department, the sheriff's office said.
He has been charged with assault second degree, and two counts of conspiracy robbery, according to authorities.
