A 19-year-old Md. man was arrested recently for multiple car thefts and thefts of personal items in St. Mary's County.
ST. MARY'S COUNTY, Md. (WUSA9) -- A Maryland man was arrested Thursday for multiple car thefts and thefts of personal items from cars in the Callaway and Piney Point area of St. Mary's County.
Deputies said the incidents happened between the months of November 2013 and January 2014 and similarities were discovered in each of the incidents.
After completion of the investigation, the St. Mary's County Criminal Investigations Division was able to identify the suspect as 19-year-old Charles H. Thompson of Lexington Park, Maryland, according to deputies.
Deputies said Thompson left the state after he found out warrants had been obtained for his arrest.
According to deputies,Thompson was staying at a home in Anderson County, South Carolina. Thompson was taken into custody after he was found.
Thompson waived extradition during a court hearing in South Carolina on Thursday and detectives took custody of the man and brought him back to St. Mary's County, deputies said.
He is now at St. Mary's County Detention Center and has been charged with three counts of theft under $1,000, six counts of credit card fraud, three counts of unlawful taking of motor vehicle, six counts of rogue and vegabond and two counts of assault second degree, according to deputies.
Deputies said the assault charges came from domestic violent incidents Thompson was involved in November and December of 2013.
He is currently being held under no bond.
