FAIRFAX, Va. (WUSA9) -- Part of Interstate 395 will be closed Friday and Saturday night while the Virginia Department of Transportation lifts a steel bridge beam over I-395 North near Exit 2.

This 95 Express Lanes work will require all lanes on I-395 North between Edsall Road and Duke Street (Route 236) to close between midnight and 5 a.m. on both nights.

During the closure, traffic will be reduced to one lane and diverted into the HOV lanes after the Beltway until just before Duke Street (Route 236).

In addition, VDOT will close the HOV lanes on I-395/95 from the D.C. line to Dumfries, just south of Exit 152 (Route 234), this weekend during night- and daytime hours.

Details are:

  • Friday Night, Feb. 7 and Saturday Night, Feb. 8, between hours of 11 p.m.-10 a.m.: HOV Lanes will be closed from the Pentagon to Dumfries beginning at 11 p.m., Friday night until 10 a.m., Saturday morning, and again Saturday night at 11 p.m. through 10 a.m., Sunday morning, Feb. 9.
  • Saturday, Feb. 8, from 10 a.m.-11 p.m.: Northern section of the HOV lanes from the Pentagon to just south of the Franconia-Springfield Pkwy. (Rt. 289) will be closed. The HOV lanes will remain open for southbound traffic, between Franconia-Springfield Pkwy. to Dumfries, during this time.
  • Sunday, Feb. 9, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.: Northern section of the HOV lanes from the Pentagon to just south of the Franconia-Springfield Pkwy. (Route 289) will be closed. The HOV lanes will remain open for southbound traffic, between Franconia-Springfield Pkwy. to Dumfries, during this time.
  • Sunday, Feb. 9 at 4 p.m.: Entire HOV facility will close.
  • Sunday, Feb. 9 at 6 p.m.: Entire HOV facility will reopen heading northbound.
