ANNAPOLIS, Md -- Police have arrested and charged a man for attempted murder after he assaulted a victim using a box cutter.
The incident happened around 4:00 p.m. on January 30 at 116 Defense Highway. The suspect, James Kerry Bennett, 43 had walked in on his girlfriend and the victim at an unoccupied office on the fifth floor of the Conte building. Bennett 'sliced the victim's face' using a box cutter. He then left the building and tried to hide in the women's bathroom of a Wendy's restaurant close by, police said.
The victim required a significant number of sutures to close his wounds, police said. Bennett has been charged with Attempted 1st and 2nd degree murder, 1st and 2nd degree assault, and reckless endangerment, police said.
