STERLING, Va. (WUSA9) -- A Leesburg man faces several charges including littering after throwing a cigarette towards a deputy, according to Loudoun County Sheriff's Office authorities.
Authorities say on Sunday at 12:37 a.m. a man was asked to leave a restaurant in the 20900 block in Davenport Dr. He then stood outside the restaurant and threw a cigarette and "made disparaging remarks towards law enforcement," according to authorities.
Authorities say he continued "to be argumentative with other patrons and attempted to reenter the restaurant."Eventually, a deputytold the man that he was under arrest. Theman walked away towards the restaurant's entrance, and the deputy tried to take himinto custody. There was a struggle but the man was ultimately placed under arrest.
The manwas identified as 29-year-old Jean-Paul Matarazzo of Leesburg.Hewas charged with resisting arrest, DIP, possession of marijuana and littering. Authorities say hehas since been released from the the detention center.
