WHEATON, Md. (WUSA) -- Twenty-two-year-old Trent Elijah Curtis is behind bars for inappropriately touching a woman on Tuesday, Montgomery County Police said.

Police say officers were in the area of Connecticut Ave. and Weller Road when they noticed suspicious male follow an adult female into a neighborhood.

Soon after, police got a call about a sexual assault that took place in the area were they saw the suspicious male. Officers found the victims who said the suspect approached her from behind and touched her inappropriately, police say.

The suspect fled on foot but was located nearby and arrested after being positively identified by the victim, police say.

Curtis, who resides in Wheaton, was charged with 4th-degree sexual assault and possession of marijuana related paraphernalia.

He was released on bond and has a court date of Feb. 14.
