On camera, cherry blossom tourists gritted their teeth and laughed in discomfort at closures and violations at: Boru Asia Bistro, Wilson Blvd, Arlington; Tai Shan, H St. NW, and Haad Thai, New York Ave. All the restaurants passed re-inspection and are now back in business.
Haad Thai Restaurant
Tourists used the Restaurant Alert app to learn Haad Thai Restaurant on New York Ave. was cited with 28 violations in a March closure, including "mouse droppings observed in corner of bar, and on shelving housing pots and pans.".
According to the WUSA9 Restaurant Alert app, violations also included employees with runny noses working with food while "blowing noses," and coughing.
"No hand washing observed on site throughout visit," inspectors reported. "Observed several employees blow their nose into tissues and cough into hands without performing a hand wash."

Boru Asia Bistro
At Boru Asia Bistro in Arlington, the Restaurant Alert app reports 20 violations in a March inspection. Arlington inspectors report temporarily revoking the restaurant's license.
Inspectors cited the sushi restaurant for serving tilapia fish represented as red snapper, and dirty conditions including "live German cockroaches at the hibachi table," and roach droppings or dead roaches in light fixtures, counters, shelving cabinetry and refrigerator parts.
DC inspectors issued 20 violations in a closure order at Tai Shan on H. St NW.
The report identified multiple vermin violations reporting "rodent feces and encrusted debris" on non-food and food contact surfaces and a roach violation in the basement.
