WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Oral cancer took the life of Hall of Famer, Tony Gwynn at the age of 54.

The former San Diego Padres outfielder battled this disease for many years and chewing tobacco is believed to be the culprit. Dr. Stanley Chia of MedStar Washington Hospital Center talked to 9News Now's Jan Jeffcoat about the dangers of smokeless tobacco.
