JESSUP, Md. (WUSA9) -- Howard County police say a man that was in jail in Jessup tried to hire a hit man to kill his girlfriend's ex-boyfriend and the ex-boyfriend's mother.
According to police, they received a tip that Bernard Perez-Garcia, who was being held at the Howard County Detention Center on federal immigration violations, was looking for someone to kill the ex-boyfriend and his mother. "It appears to detectives that the motive was strictly domestic-related," said police in a press release.
An undercover detective, posing as a prospective hit man, met with Perez-Garcia at the jail, say police. Perez-Garcia told the undercover detective that he wanted two people killed and that he wanted it to look like it was a robbery at a store the victims owned in Langley Park, according to police. Perez-Garcia then gave the detective the ex-boyfriend's name and a description of his car. He then told the detective he would pay him after the two people were killed, say police.
Perez-Garcia has been charged with solicitation to commit first-degree murder. He is being held without bond.
