OCEAN CITY, Md. (DELMARVANOW) -- A Pennsylvania man has died after being assaulted in Ocean City, officials said.
Justin Daniel Cancelliere, 37, of North Whitehall, Pennsylvania, died of his injuries Sunday at Atlantic General Hospital, Ocean City spokeswoman Jessica Waters said.
Ocean City Police were dispatched to 109 N. Baltimore Ave. at 3:15 a.m. Sunday for an "assist EMS" call. Their preliminary investigation showed the victim had been assaulted. Officers found Cancelliere unconscious and unresponsive in the parking lot area of the Plim Plaza hotel.
He was treated and hospitalized at Atlantic General. No time of death was available, Waters said.
Detectives in Ocean City are conducting an investigation to determine the cause, manner, and circumstances of the man's death. No criminal charges have been filed at this time.
The number of assailants, where the assault occurred, and the nature of the assault all at this time remain unknown, Waters said.
An autopsy is scheduled for Aug. 25 with the Medical Examiner's office in Baltimore, Waters also said.
