(WUSA9) -- Montgomery County police are looking for a driver who hit a bicyclist after attempting to pass him on Laytonsville Road (Route 108) on Saturday afternoon.
A witness to the incident contacted police and described the striking vehicle as a silver Toyota 4Runner with Maryland plates, police said.
According to police, witnesses saw a bicyclist traveling east on Route 108 with traffic when a vehicle, also traveling east on Route 108, attempted to pass the bicyclist in the area of Rocky Road by traveling into the westbound lane of Route 108. They told police that the vehicle swerved back into the eastbound lane to avoid hitting a westbound vehicle. In the process, it struck the bicyclist.
The vehicle didn't stop and continued traveling east on Route 108. Witnesses to the collision describe the striking vehicle as a gray or silver SUV.
The bicyclist, 44-year-old Kurt Zwally of Silver Spring, was wearing a helmet, say police. He was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
