WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Dr. Ludy Green gives her input on how economic empowerment is critical to ending domestic violence.
One in four women are victims of domestic abuse, and Green, a top expert on domestic violence, says these numbers aren't getting any better. According to Green, the problem stems from economic pressure. She says our community has been affected by isolation, economic distress, and loss of jobs, and people aren't reaching out to share their problems. As a result, people are taking their frustrations out on their partners.
In Green's book, Ending Domestic Violence Captivity, she provides problem solving advice. Watch this video to find out what Green recommends to our community.
