ANNAPOLIS (WUSA9) -- The girlfriend of a suspect accused of robbery and attempted murder tried to get a witness kidnapped and killed before the suspect's trial, according to Anne Arundel County Police.

Police tell us that detectives received information that 33-year-old Stacie Elizabeth Roberts of Annapolis was "inquiring about planning a kidnapping and homicide." Detectives say Roberts was trying to keep the primary witness in Savvas Pantelides' trial from testifying.

Pantelides, who is the Annapolis mayor's cousin as well as Roberts' boyfriend, is charged with robbery and attempted murder charges. He is being held at the Jennifer Road Detention Center.

A detective posing as an "outlaw motorcycle gang associate" met Roberts on Monday, according to police. Police say while sitting in a car Roberts insisted several times that she didn't want the witness to appear in court and provided the witness' name, description and address. They say she also offered $16,000 and prescription pills to have the witness killed.

Once Roberts got out of the car, police say members of the Anne Arundel County Police Department's Special Operations Section took her into custody.

Roberts is now charged with Obstruction of Justice (Misdemeanor, carries penalty of up to 5 years/$10,000 fine), Induce/Inhibit Testimony (Misdemeanor, carries up to 5 years/$5,000 fine) and Induce/Inhibit Testimony Felony Offense (Felony, up to 20 years).
