Pause that latest episode of Orange is the New Black. You may not have noticed, but Netflix has stopped mailing DVDs on Saturdays.
"Saturday DVD shipments have been tapering for over a year and ended in early June," said Netflix Spokesman Joris Evers. "Saturdays have been low volume ship days for us."
Back in February of 2013, an AP story highlighted the U.S. Postal Service's shift to five days of home delivery. Under the new change, Netflix customers who ordered DVDs on Saturdays would receive their orders on Monday. The shift prompted Netflix to stop its weekend deliveries to reduce costs.
The change has gone unrecognized by most, as many Netflix subscribers are content with its popular streaming service. For the rest of you weekend warriors, you might want to hit up the nearest Redbox.
Netflix will post its second-quarter earnings report on Monday, July 21. Its stock is up 67% since mid July of 2013.
