BETHESDA, Md., (WUSA9) The motor mount on a Kenmore oscillating fan heater can break and cause the unit to overheat, catch fire and ignite items is being recalled by Sears and Kmart.
The 12x9 inch heaters come in gray and white and have two dials on top to select the temperature and fan speed. A red on and off button is located on the front base of the heaters.
The recall affects about 42,500 Kenmore oscillating fan heaters with model number 127.90914310. You can check the bottom of the unit to look for a silver sticker with the model number printed on it.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission says Sears and Kmart have reported seven incidents of the fan heaters smoking or catching fire. The retailers also acknowledge there have been two reports of injury.
The CPSC wants consumers to stop using this Kenmore product immediately, turn it off, unplug it and return the oscillating fan heater to any Sears or Kmart store for a full refund.
