ALEXANDRIA, Va. (WUSA9) --Officials say a Canadian woman was sentenced for attempting to coerce and entice two children into engaging in illegal sexual activity following an undercover operation.
According to The United States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Virginia, 45-year-old Theresa Louisa Goddard of Vancouver, British Columbia, was charged after she exchanged messages with an undercover agent on a website where people exchanged messages, photso and videos regarding "taboo subjects." According to court documents, she posted a message saying she was interested in starting "an incest family." In June 2013, the undecover agent responded to the message, and communicatedwith Goddard via email and Skype.
The agent told Goddard that he had two minor children, a girl and a boy, but the children were fictitious, according to documents. Goddard then made plans to travel from Vancouver to Virginia to sexually abuse and rape the children. She also told the agent that she wanted to quit her job in Vancouver and move in with him in order to sexually abuse his children on a regular basis.
According to documents, Goddard traveled to Dulles International Airport on June 26, 2013 to meet the agent. She was arrested once she landed in Virginia.
Officials say Goddard pleaded guilty to chargeson October 16, 2013. Goddard was sentenced Friday to 10 years in prison, followed by 20 years of supervised release.
