LEESBURG, Va. (WUSA9) -- We are seeing icing conditions on the roads on Friday morning.Things are expected to get better in the afternoon.

Our DeliaGoncalves reportedlive near Route 15and demonstrated the icy conditions with an umbrella.A light coating of ice formed on the umbrella within 30 minutes.

She alsohad a demonstration involving acar that has been parkedin a lotsince the rain first started falling in the Leesburg area around 4:30 a.m.The car wascovered in ice. Using her press pass like an ice scraper, you could see there was a pretty thick coating of ice that was a little difficult to get through.

The parking lot itself wasfairly slick. Remember: any surfaces that are untreated will be slick, andvery tricky to walk or drive on.

Fortunately though, for a lot of drivers the roads have been treated. However, we still know because of the accidents we have been reporting, it is still very tricky out there. Slick conditions will continue for most of the morning commute.

This freezing rain event will wrap up and turn into simple rain by 9:00 a.m. in Loudoun County.
