College Station, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Davonte Fitzgerald scored 17 points off the bench as the Texas A&M Aggies cruised to a 69-53 victory over the Arkansas Razorbacks in Southeastern Conference action at Reed Arena.
Fabyon Harris netted 15 points and Jamal Jones narrowly missed out on a double-double with 14 points and eight rebounds for the Aggies (10-4, 1-0 SEC). Texas A&M has now won two straight and four of its last six.
Rashad Madden scored 12 points to lead Arkansas (11-3, 0-1), while Coty Clarke almost had a double-double with nine points and 10 rebounds. The Razorbacks had a seven-game winning streak snapped by the loss.
Texas A&M shot 37.1 percent from the field in the first half, including 4- of-9 from 3-point range. Arkansas converted 43.8 percent from the field, but just 3-of-11 from distance, allowing A&M to enter the half with a 35-33 lead.
The second half was murky for the Razorbacks, who shot 26.9 percent from the floor and just 1-of-8 beyond the arc. The Aggies improved in the second frame to 45.8 percent shooting and outscored Arkansas 34-20 in the period.
Texas A&M proved to be too much to handle in the paint, outscoring Arkansas 32-22 and winning the rebound battle, 42-38.
