WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Amtrak says in a press release that it is "operating a modified schedule on the Northeast Corridor between Washington and Boston, as well as the Empire Line between New York City and Albany" on Tuesday due to the cold weather.

Officials sayAcela Express and Northeast Regional service is operating between Boston and Washington and on the Empire Line between New YorkCity and Albany. Passengers "should expect reduced frequencies," say officials.

Crews are addressing overhead wire problems near Trenton, New Jersey. The problems arecausinghuge delays between New York City and D.C., say officials.

Only one of the four tracks currently is available over a 20- mile stretch of Amtrak-owned property between Trenton, NJ and Holmesburg, Pa.while crews make repairs, according to officials.

No estimate for complete restoration of service is available.
