SILVER SPRING, Md. (WUSA9) -- A huge concern for thousands of people in our region is the reliability of Metro transit, especially during times of extreme temperatures.
The rail tracks expand during heat but on days like this one those same tracks contract, which can lead to problems.
There was one already Tuesday morning. Red Linetrains single tracked between Rhode Island and Fort Totten due to a broken rail. On the Orange Line, trains single tracked between New Cheverly and New Carrollton due toa disabled train in both directions.
You probably want to leave extra early to make sure you get to work on time. We're already starting to see delays.
Metro tells me they do have extra people on staff in case more problems arise.
