WASHINGTON (WUSA9) --Police say a 90-year-old woman was struck andkilled by a the 700 block of 7th Street, SW on Wednesday.

According to police, at approximately 3:04 p.m., the driver of a black 2013 Porsche Cayenne S was exiting the underground parking garage at the back of the 700 block of 7th Street, SW whenit struck 90-year-old Frances Margaret Parsons of D.C.

Parsons had been walking on the access ramp. Police say she was taken to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

Parsons was a former employee who taught Art History atGallaudet University.At the age of five, she was diagnosed to be deaf from an unknown cause.

As an author, her work has appeared in various magazines including Deaf Life, The Deaf American, The Buff and Blue, and The Silent News. She also appeared in a People Magazine profile about teachers.
