LAUREL, Md. (WUSA9) -- One person is dead in a single-car crash in Prince George's County.
Police say a manwas killed when a single vehicle overturned along the westbound Route 198 ramp to southbound I-95 in Laurel, Md.
The victim is identified as Lewis W. Howell of Suffolk, Va. The 52-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene, police say.
Preliminary investigation indicates Howell was traveling in his 2003 Ford F-150 on the ramp when, for reasons unknown, he lost control of the vehicle and struck a guardrail on the right roadside, overturning the vehicle.
The ramp from westbound Route 198 to southbound I-95 was closed during the course of the investigation. All southbound traffic was being diverted onto the northbound I-95 ramp. The investigation caused the ramp to be closed for approximately three and a half hours.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
