CHESAPEAKE BEACH, Md. (WUSA9) -- A man lost his life in a crash Friday morning in Chesapeake Beach, Md.
Calvert County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to the scene of an accident in the area of Chesapeake Beach Road (MD Route 260) and St Andrews Drive at 8:04 a.m. According to their investigation, 38-year-old April Lea Wooden was driving a 2013 Jeep Wrangler westbound on Chesapeake Beach Road in the area of St. Andrews Drive. As her car approached the intersection of MD Route 260 and St. Andrews Drive a black 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse,drivenby 24-year-old Steven Ray Sargent of Chesapeake Beach, entered the westbound lanes of MD Route 260 to make a left turn and continue eastbound. The Eclipse was struck in the side. Authorities say both vehicles came to a final rest on the grassy median of MD Route 260, approximately 15 feet from the initial collision.
Authorities say Sargent was not wearing his seatbelt and was found unresponsive lying in the front passenger.An emergency crewdetermined Sargent succumbed to his injuries.
Wooden was transported to Calvert Memorial Hospital where she received treatment for minor injuries, according to authorities.
