CULPEPER, Va. (WUSA9) -- Culpeper police have arrested a couple on several drug-related charges.

Police say they made the arrested following a tip and recovered about four ounces of marijuana. A small child lives in the couple's home in the 600 block of Yancy Street and has been place in Child Protective Services.

Amber S. Mitchell, 26, faces felony charges of child neglect, conspiracy to distribute marijuana and possession with intent to distribute marijuana, officials said.

Kareem J. Penn, 29, has been charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana and conspiracy to distribute marijuana, officials said.

Around 9 p.m. Thursday night, police seized the marijuana from Penn's car after a tip. At about 11 p.m., officers went to Penn's house where they say they could smell and see marijuana in plain view when Mitchell opened the door.

Police secured a warrant, searched the home and found several more ounces of marijuana and a loaded semi-automatic pistol, officials said.
