(WUSA9) -- A former correctional officer at theHoward County detention Center was charged for having sexual contact with a female inmate.
Forty-year-old Gregory Charles Kirk of Owings Mills was arrested on Friday morning. Police say he will be charged with sexual conduct between a correctional employee and inmate, a misdemeanor that could bring him up to 3 years in jail and a $3,000 fine if convicted.
Police say the director of the detention center contacted them last month to report the allegation of sexual activity with a female inmate in a cell. Kirk had already been fired for administrative issues unrelated to the case, say police.
After further investigation and interviews at the jail, police charged Kirk. He is now in police custody.
