ALEXANDRIA, Va. (WUSA9) -- The Alexandria Police Department held a small press conference at 9:30 a.m. Wednesdayabout the unsolved homicide involving Nancy Dunning, the wife ofa former Alexandria sheriff.
WUSA 9's Peggy Fox will have more on the press conference tonight at 5 and 6.
Last year, former Alexandria Sheriff James Dunning died in South Carolina. His death reminded many people in the Del Ray community that the 2003 murder of his wife Nancy remained unsolved.
Nancy Dunning, a real estate agent and advocate for the Del Ray community, was found murdered in her home on December 5, 2003. Police saying at the time they believed she was targeted by someone she knew.
Her friend Gayle Reuter helped raise more than $100,000 for a reward fund to prompt anyone with dispositive information come forward. The reward money is still there.
