WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- A man reported to Metro officials that he had to go to the hospital after he slipped on a banana peel and fell.
Maurice Owens reported the incident on August 8 at the Potomac Avenue Metro Station located at 700 14th Street, SE. In an interview Owens said he needs $15,000 to settle his claim. He alleged that he slipped from the banana peel since nobody had cleaned it up before he entered the elevator.
After reviewing surveillance video, officials saw that the elevator was empty before Owens entered the elevator. He then drops the banana peel, steps on it as he exits the elevator, and falls to the ground.
Owens has now been charged with 'Felony 2nd Degree Fraud'.
