HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) - Rain is falling across Maryland and the District of Columbia as a wintry storm arrives in the region.

The National Weather Service said Tuesday that any heavy snow accumulation will likely stay far to the west of Baltimore and Washington. Allegany and Garrett counties in far western Maryland could get up to six inches of snow by Wednesday night.

From Cumberland east, the forecast is mainly for rain, with perhaps a little freezing rain, Tuesday afternoon and Tuesday night. Some light snow is possible Wednesday.

Officials at Reagan National and Dulles International airports say they expect few flight delays during the day on Tuesday.

Baltimore Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport is reporting normal operating conditions.
