WASHINGTON (WUSA9) --Tuesday afternoon,students at Saint John'sCollege in northwest D.C. packed hundreds of breakfasts-to-go for the homeless. The actof kindness and generosity is made possible by an alum-turned-philanthropist.

Joe Robert graduated from St. John's College a long time ago. Robert made a lot in real estate and has given a lot of money back to this area.

There's a program called Cup of Joe that Catholic Charity runs on his behalf. Cup of Joe moved around the Washington area and got young people to fill bags with breakfast food and distributed to the homeless through Catholic Charity shelters.

Tuesday, students packedapproximately1,500bags of pre-made snacks for the homeless.

Joe Roberts passed away at age 59 a few years ago from brain cancer.
