WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Fire and rescue officials put down an attic fire Monday evening in the 1700 block of Taylor Street NW.

The fire was quickly put out, but not before a neighbor captured the fire with his cell phone.

Neighbor Pamela Williamson came home, heard glass breaking and thought someone was breaking into her house. Williamson called 911 and locked herself in her bedroom.

When police arrivedshe got a call to go down to her front door and when she got there police informed her of the fire and told her to leave her house.

According to Williamson, the owner of the burning home was not at home and at last report authorities didn't know how to contact her to let her know about the blaze.
