LUSBY, Md. (WUSA9) -- A man accused of hitting another car at a gas station was later found hiding in a bathroom in Lusby, according to police.
The Calvert County Sheriff's Office authorities say witnesses reported that a driver backed into another vehicle at the gas pumps atMimi's Market on Rousby Hall Road on Nov. 15 and then took off. One witness was able to get the striking car's tag number and provide it to police.
An officer looked up information for the tag number and went to the corresponding address, say authorities. The officer spotted a car fitting the description in the driveway. When he asked a woman at the home about the driver, she denied she knew who was driving it, according to authorities.
The officer checked the home and found a man hiding in the bathroom. The man, identified as 33-year-old Jeffrey John Jones,initially refused to comply with officer's demands but was subdued and handcuffed, say police. Police say the officer detected the odor of alcohol on Jones' breath.
Jones was charged with numerous traffic violations as well as DUIand resisting arrest, according to police.
Police say that the woman who denied knowing him, Iris Delenthia Jones, has charges of hindering pending against her.
