WOODBRIDGE, Va. (WUSA9) -- A pedestrian has died a day after suffering injuries in a collision in Woodbridge. Now, additional charges are pending against the driver.
Police sayat 9:27 a.m. Sunday, investigators responded to the area of Opitz Boulevard and Montgomery Avenue to investigate a crash involving a pedestrian. According to police, 59-year-old Sally Ann Okuly was crossing Opitz Blvd at the intersection with Montgomery Ave in a designated crosswalk and with a pedestrian signal indicating to cross. Amanda Elisa Styles-Mays was driving at the same intersection attempting to make a left hand turn from Montgomery Avenue onto Opitz Boulevard with a solid green light.Police say Styles-Maysdid not yield the right of way and proceeded to turn left, striking Okuly.
Okulywas transported to an area hospital where she died onMonday as a result of her injuries.
Police say at the time of the crash Styles-Mays was cited. Additional charges are pending, according to police.
