(WTKR/WUSA9) -- A Virginia mother is defending her 7-year-old son's controversial Halloween costume.

Jessica Black said her's son outfit as a member of the Ku Klux Klan is seen as a family tradition. She made the outfit after her son asked if he could dress up as a member of the white supremacist group.

Her son, Jackson, learned of the costume after seeing it in the movie "Fried Green Tomatoes."

Black's neighbors told WTKR they could not believe the outfit.

"It's not okay," one neighbor said. "You're offending a lot of people."
