BURKE, Va. (WUSA) -- Fairfax Water crews are on the scene of a water main break near Lake Braddock Elementary School in Burke.

According to Fairfax County police, residents in the area first reported the problem around 3:41a.m. Officers who responded to the scene reportedfast-escaping water under high pressurewas shooting approximately 40 feet in the air from thebusted pipenear the intersection of Burke Road and Lake BraddockDr.

A Fairfax Water spokesperson tells us a break occured in a 30-inch pipe. He says the break has been isolated and water has stopped. Fairfax Water crews have shut down valves in the area, cutting off the water feeding the geyser.

At least one fire unitresponded to the scenedue to water spraying on a nearby transformer, causing it to spark. Police say the sparking transformer has not caused a power outage to Lake Braddock Elementary.

A Fairfax Water spokesperson says that no customers are directly connected to the transmission main and no one is out of service.

It will likely be early afternoon before repairs are completed, says the spokesperson.
