FREDERICK, Md. (WUSA9) -- A husband and wife were indicted Friday on charges related to the death of a two-year-old boy.
Raymond and Melissa Brittle of Thurmont, Md. Were indicted following the death of Robert Watkins. Authorities say that he had stayed with the Brittles for five months before he was taken to a hospital on Sept. 5. Authorities say Melissa Brittle reported that the boy fell down stairs but the boy's injuries were not consistent with her statement. He died shortly after he was transported to another hospital.
Authorities tell us that their investigation later revealed the boy had been abused prior to Sept. 5 and that he was beaten that night. He sustained a severe skull fracture, they say.
Raymond Brittle is charged with second-degree felony murder and child abuse resulting in death, according to officials. Melissa Brittle is charged with child abuse resulting in death.
