WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Nine people suffered minor injuries after a crash involving a Metrobus, according to a spokesperson for WMATA.

The crash happened at Rhode Island Avenue and North Capitol Street.

A car was traveling eastbound on Rhode Island Avenue when it ran a red light and hit the left side of the bus. The bus was traveling northbound on North Capitol Street heading toward the Fort Trotten Metro Station.

Five people were transported, officials said.
