WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA) -- Chrysler has issued a worldwide recall for 142,000 Jeep Grand Cherokees and Ram pickup trucks.

There are software glitches that affect the instrument panel illumination and braking system.

The recall impacts the 2014 model year of the Jeep Grand Cherokee and the Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500 pickup trucks.

Chrysler says it will update the software for free.
