CALVERTON, Md. (WUSA) -- One suspect is dead after an officer-involved shooting early this morning in Calverton, Maryland.

Officer Henry Bond, spokesman for the Prince George's County Police Department, says the incident started with a 911 call from a witness who reported hearing a woman screaming "get off of me" outside of an apartment complex in the 3800 block of Twinlakes Drive just before 2:00 a.m.

Police arrived on the scenewithin a minute of receiving the call and located the victim and a suspect who ran from the officers. After a 1/4 mile foot chase a struggle ensued, which ended when an officer fired a shot, striking the suspect. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The officer, a 7-year veteran,was not harmed.

Police say thewomanwas injured, however she is expected to recover.

Prince George's County Police detectives remain at the scene and the investigation is ongoing.
