WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Two alligators that had been housed at the downtown National Aquarium were movedMonday afternoon.

The gators are being flown to Louisiana because the aquarium is closing after 81 years of operation.

See a worker explain the process of moving the alligators in the video.

The aquarium was located in the Commerce Department building. Renovations are about to take place in that building on Fourteenth Street and Constitution.
