London, England (Sports Network) - Minnesota Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder is suffering from a rib injury heading into this Sunday's game against Pittsburgh in London.
Ponder, speaking with reporters Wednesday, said he was hurt during last Sunday's game against Cleveland.
"It was early in the game, felt it, wasn't sure how serious it was, kind of played through it," said Ponder.
Ponder added he would try to throw during practice this week and wouldn't be concerned about his playing status until Friday.
"The biggest concern is contact," Ponder remarked. "We're going to find something to help protect (the rib). We'll see how throwing goes (Wednesday). I was able to throw Sunday after it happened. My mindset is I want to play this game and do everything possible to do so."
Ponder has completed 59 percent of his passes for 691 yards with two touchdowns and five interceptions this season for the Vikings, who will enter Sunday's tilt with an 0-3 record.
If Ponder is unable to play Sunday, Matt Cassel would likely make the start.
