WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA) -- It's not even Halloween yet, but Walmart is ready to hire 55,000 workers for the holidays.

And while the big box retailer is increasing its seasonal workforce by 10 percent, Target, Kohl's and Toys R Us plan to hire the same number of holiday employees as last year.

A forecast of cautious consumer spending is the reason those retailers have opted not to increase their temporary workers.
