WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Two people needed surgery and another is recovering at the Medstar Washington Hospital Center in DC on Monday, after a shooting rampage at the Navy Yard earlier in the day.
All three victims are expected to survive the shootings, according to the doctor speaking a news conference from the hospital.
A Metropolitan Police Department officer, who was shot in both legs, is having surgery on his lower extremities. He spent the majority of the day in surgery.
Another victim had shoulder surgery, and is expected to be OK.
The third victim at the Washington Hospital Center is expected to recover without surgery, even with a gunshot wound to the head.
Doctors say the bullet did not penetrate the victim's skull.
The victims were asking about their colleagues and families while being taken into surgery, according to doctors.
