FAIRFAX, Va. (WUSA9) -- Julio Blanco Garcia has been found guilty of first degree murder in the Vanessa Pham murder trial in Fairfax, Va.
Jurors voted unanimously on the sentencing verdict at 8:31 p.m., They have recommended Garcia get 49 years behind bars for the murder of Pham.
Garcia murdered Pham on June 27, 2010, in a parking lot at a Falls Church shopping center.
He's from Guatemala and he's in the United States illegally.
Authorities say Garcia approached Pham at a Falls Church shopping center with his infant daughter and asked for a ride to the hospital.
Police say Garcia got upset when Pham went the wrong way down a road and stabbed her.
The jury deliberated for about two hours in the case, and came back quickly with the guilty verdict.
They volunteered to stay later into the evening for the penalty phase.
Vanessa Pham's mother and aunt took the stand in the penalty phase of the trial to talk about how happy she was and how she loved to "make funny faces."
Pham's aunt was brought to tears we she recalled how her niece affected her life.
The prosecution showed a video of Vanessa Pham smiling, making faces and telling her mother to watch a Jonas Brothers video on YouTube to cheer her mother up.
Prosecutors wanted to show how happy and full of life Pham was before she was brutally murdered by Garcia in 2010.
"To think, that beautiful young person suffered that fate at the hands of this murderer," prosecutors told the jury during the penalty phase of the trial.
"Her death was not quick and it was not easy. It was pure savagery. She was choking on her own blood," the prosecutor said.
A judge will sentence Blanco Garcia in October.
