SILVER SPRING, Md. (WUSA9) --A man was airlifted by a Maryland State Police helicopter after reportedly falling from a tree in Montgomery County.

MontgomeryCounty Fire officials say they received a call at 12:37 p.m. Wednesday, for an injured person who had fallen 30 feet or more in the 14400 block of Pebblestone Drive in Silver Spring. Beth Ann Nesselts said aviation was requested and a Maryland State Police helicopter arrived shortly after 1 p.m.

Nesselts told us the 19-year-old manwas conscious and alert when he was placed on a backboard as a precaution in case he had a spinal injury. He was taken to the helicopter's landing zone at Stonegate Elementary School to be taken to the hospital.
