WASHINGTON (WUSA9)-- It was late last Wednesday night when Anthony Chase and his friend Eric Leeper were gunned down on the 300 block of Ridge Rd S.E.

A few days later on Saturday, a brother and sister, Jamie and Jamahl Jenkins, were also killed by gunfire on the 5300 block of East Capitol street.

Thesefour murders have sparked outrage among the loved ones of the young slain people.

Large crowds gathered along the 300 block of Ridge Road S.E. near the scene of one of the killings to hold a vigil and anti-violence rally protesting the shootings.

Joshua Jenkins, Jamie's father, was at the rally and like many more people he was visibly distraught and upset.

He said, "I just seen my daughter last week and that's the last time I will ever see her or hold her, and it's not right."

D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray was also at the rally. He led a crowd of protestors by yelling into a bull horn and politicizing the tragedies.

He said DC's gun violence problems are the result of gun laws in other nearby states.

Gray said, "These guns are coming from somewhere else...Virginia, South Carolina, and North Carolina, Georgia... states that don't have the laws that we have."

So far, no one has been arrested in connection to any of these shootings.
