DECATUR, Ga. (WXIA) -- Sitting on her aunt's lap, 9-year-old Nature Dennard turned to the camera and, with a maturity well beyond her years, appealed directly to her father Angelo to turn himself in to police.

"I love him. And I forgive him. But he knows he did some stuff wrong," Nature said. "He needs to turn himself in."

DeKalb County Police say Dennard is wanted for the murder of 27-year-old Diana Cruz, the mother of his four children.

Dennard's family said he shot Cruz in the head Sunday night as his mother and two of the couple's children looked on in horror.

"We heard a pop from the gun. She fell to the ground," Dennard's mother Stephanie said. "I ran inside with the kids and called 911."

Stephanie Dennard contacted 11Alive News because she wanted to urge her son to turn himself in. Before we concluded our interview, Nature arrived home and asked if she too could deliver a message to her father.

With her family's permission and blessing, the courageous 9 year old urged her father to do the right thing and end the police manhunt.
