WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- A 3'x7'foot sinkhole opened up in Northwest DC, nearly swallowing a car, authorities said.

The incident happened on Tuesday at about 5:30 p.m. in the rear of128 M Street NW, in an elevated parking lot. No injures were reported, the DC Firefighters Union L36 tweeted.

The front left part of the car dropped into the hole but was not fully consumed as earlier reported by officials.

A tow truck is attempting to remove the car, reports WNEW 99.1
