WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- TSA officers confiscated a loaded gun from a passenger who was passing through the checkpoint X-ray to board a flight at Washington Dulles International Airport.
On Sunday, a TSA officer noticed the loaded.22 caliber revolver - loaded with five rounds, in the man's carry-on luggage, TSA said.
The Fredericksburg resident was allowed to board his flight to Houston and was cited on a state weapons charge. The gun and ammunition were confiscated, TSA said.
"Our officers are solid professionals who are focused on keeping the flying public safe, and this past weekend, through their good work, they prevented a man with a loaded gun from setting foot on an airplane," said Eddie Mayenshein, TSA's Federal Security Director for Washington Dulles International Airport in a press release.
This is the fourth time TSA officers have stopped a passenger at the Dulles checkpoint with a gun.
